Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was founded in Shanghai, China, in 1896, with the goal of cultivating talented professionals for the nation.

SJTU is one of the famous institutions of higher learning with the longest history and reputation at home and abroad. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly built with Shanghai Municipality. Shanghai Jiao Tong University has become a domestic first-class and internationally renowned university, and further defined the vision on constructing a “comprehensive, innovative and international” world-class university since 1896.

About Foundation

Education Development Foundation

Foundation was initiated by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and registered with the Shanghai Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau in 2001. The main responsibilities are accepting and managing donations from alumni and public personages, and supporting the development of the university's educational undertakings. The endowment funds are mainly used for teaching development, scientific research support, student growth and cultural heritage.

The foundation is eligible for pre tax deduction of charitable donations in multiple regions.

In United States

In 2008, Foundation of America (SJTUFA) was incorporated in California, U.S.A., and has the qualification of tax exemption as a 501(c)(3) charitable organizations of the U.S. Federal Tax Administration.

In Hong Kong

In 2014, Foundation was incorporated in Hong Kong, with the qualification of tax exemption for Hong Kong alumni and others. Foundation was incorporated in Hong Kong with tax-exempt status under Section 88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance.
